The Ohio Fraternal
Congress
Ohio is home to 1,856 local fraternal benefit society
chapters representing more than 461,763 members.
Founded in 1917, the Ohio Fraternal
Congress (OFC) is one of 32 state organizations uniting
fraternal benefit societies. The Ohio Fraternal Congress allows
grassroots members to come together in their home state to
participate in community service projects, hold educational and
leadership conferences and make a difference in their own
communities.
The National Fraternal Congress of
America
America’s Fraternal Benefit Societies include
76 not-for-profit membership organizations operating in all 50
states, the District of Columbia and Canada. Fraternal benefit
societies represent more than 10 million people in 37,000 local
chapters, making it one of the continent’s largest member networks.
Fraternal benefit societies provide their members with leadership,
social, educational, spiritual, scholarship, financial and volunteer
service opportunities. Combined, the NFCA’s members maintain more
than $329 billion of life insurance in force and, in 2006
alone, contributed more than $377 million to charitable and
fraternal programs. Fraternalists volunteered more than 94 million hours
during that same period. The NFCA was founded in 1886 and is
celebrating its 122th year in 2008.
